KABUL (SW) – Following the US announcement of troop’s withdrawal, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has said Afghanistan is not in a state of collapse as the security and defense forces are capable of defending their country independently.
The Taliban have rejected reports about consultation by the US over reported postponement of the withdrawal of foreign troops.
U.S. intelligence agencies have told the Biden administration that the Taliban could overrun most of Afghanistan within two to three years if U.S. troops leave before a power-sharing deal is reached between the warring sides, a news report said on Friday
The US has expressed intention to review its peace deal inked with the Taliban in February last year.
