The Embassy of Pakistan in Kabul held a ceremony titled «Black Day of Jammu and Kashmir» to mark the 79th anniversary of the arrival of Indian forces in Srinagar on October 27, 1947.
In a statement published on October 27, 2026, the embassy emphasized Pakistan’s support for the people of Kashmir and called for a peaceful resolution of the dispute in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Speakers also expressed concern over the situation of Kashmiri political leaders and human rights defenders and called on the international community to pay greater attention to the issue.
Messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister were read out at the ceremony. A documentary showing the Pakistani government’s view of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir was also shown.
The ceremony was held as the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir continues to be a point of disagreement between India and Pakistan.
