Iran and the USA are set to hold high-level nuclear talks in Oman. AlJazeera reports that Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has confirmed the talks will take place this Friday in Muscat, Oman.
The meeting location was initially uncertain, but Oman was ultimately chosen over Turkiye. Washington has confirmed it will participate, according to a White House official.
Mediators from Qatar, Turkiye, and Egypt have proposed a framework for the talks, calling on Iran to significantly limit its uranium enrichment. The plan also includes restrictions on Iran’s ballistic missile program and its support for regional allies.
USA Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the talks will cover Iran’s missile program, support for proxy groups, and human rights issues.
The talks come amid rising tensions and fears of USA military action after Washington deployed forces to the Arabian Sea. Past efforts have been fragile, with earlier Oman talks breaking down after Israeli and US strikes on Iran.
