KABUL (SW) – Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has stated on the third day of his visit to Kabul that the economic interests of Pakistan and Afghanistan are inextricably linked.
The Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, on Sunday, March 23, issued a statement quoting Mohammad Sadiq, who emphasized that peace and progress in Afghanistan are essential for regional stability.
Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan made these comments during the flag-raising ceremony at the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul yesterday.
He added: “Pakistan and Afghanistan must coordinate their efforts to strengthen regional economic development. Afghanistan remains one of Pakistan’s most important regional partners, and both countries should work together to enhance bilateral trade and expand regional connectivity.”
Mohammad Sadiq emphasized that Pakistan is committed to maintaining strong and beneficial bilateral relations with Afghanistan. He also highlighted the significance of March 23 as a day to renew commitment to Pakistan’s welfare and defense.
Meanwhile, Obaid al-Rehman Nizami, Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kabul, in his speech at the ceremony, expressed gratitude for the “sacrifices of freedom fighters” and stressed the need for renewed commitment to building a “stronger” and “more prosperous” Pakistan.
The Pakistani Ambassador also stressed the importance of strengthening the resilience of the country to face both internal and external challenges.
The Pakistani Embassy in Kabul stated that during the ceremony, messages from Asif Ali Zardari, the President, Shahbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Deputy Prime Minister, were also read out.
On Friday, March 21, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan arrived in Kabul at the head of a delegation and held separate meetings with Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Foreign Minister, and Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce.
This is Mohammad Sadiq’s second visit to Kabul in less than three months. Previously, he visited Kabul on December 25 and emphasized the need for an immediate resolution of border tensions and issues between the two countries during his meetings with the officials of the Islamic Emirate.
