MONITORING (SW) – The Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a $5 million allocation from the Australian government to support women and girls in Afghanistan.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry revealed that Australia would provide $11 million in humanitarian aid for civilians in Gaza and an additional $15 million for critical support to those affected in Myanmar and Afghanistan.
The statement mentioned that out of this budget, $5 million would be dedicated to empowering United Nations partners in Afghanistan to provide health services to women and girls.
Penny Wong, Australia’s Foreign Minister, emphasized that the country remains steadfast in its support for the women and girls of Afghanistan.
This announcement comes amid ongoing concerns from humanitarian organizations about the severe shortage of funding to address humanitarian needs in Afghanistan.
