MONITORING (SW) – In the midst of the bloody conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, three European countries have expressed their readiness to recognize Palestine as an independent state.

Norway, Ireland, and Spain have jointly decided to recognize Palestine, a move welcomed by countries such as Turkey and Qatar.

However, Israel has criticized this decision. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by saying that this decision will not help end the Gaza conflict.

Experts believe that Israel’s actions in Gaza and the resulting public pressure in Western countries are pushing Western nations to pressure Israel into recognizing Palestine.

Ajmal Zurmati, an international relations expert, told Salam Watandar, “These countries collectively decided to recognize Palestine. So far, 143 countries have recognized Palestine; I hope this continues to increase diplomatic pressure on Israel to end the conflict.”

Norway, Ireland, and Spain have emphasized that the existence of two independent states, Israel and Palestine, is the only solution to the ongoing tensions in Gaza and the West Bank.

While some analysts see the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as necessary to prevent military aggression, they believe the fundamental solution lies in establishing a state and governance rooted in the will of the region’s residents.

Wali Forozan, an analyst for international relations, stated, “Naturally, there is a lot of pressure on Israel. If Gaza and the West Bank are recognized as independent, Israel cannot impose its demands, sanctions, and deny the people their right to vote on an independent country.”

The United Nations General Assembly had previously, through multiple votes, accepted Palestine as a full member of the organization with a majority vote.
