Conference in Dushanbe criticises Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan

MONITORING (SW) – The 11th round of the “Herat Security Meeting” began on Monday  in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, with criticism and complaints about the approach of the caretaker government of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan.

This meeting is being held under the title “Rethinking Afghanistan, different solutions” and its participants were political figures of the previous government and representatives from some other countries.

At the end of the first day of this meeting, the speakers criticized the approach of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan and the current approach of the world towards Afghanistan. They said the way out of the current situation and political crisis in Afghanistan requires the formation of a comprehensive and legitimate government based on the will of the people and the law.

Rangin Dadfar Spanta, the adviser of the National Security Council of the former government of Afghanistan, spoke about the lack of cohesion between Afghan political figures and parties in this meeting: “In Afghanistan, the new narrative is based on the rights and freedoms of the people, having a constitution, and accepting the unconditional equality of women and men, the real sovereignty of the people, reducing the centralization of power and the indivisibility of Afghanistan should be created.”

The adviser of the National Security Council of the previous government of Afghanistan also criticized the world’s approach towards Afghanistan and stressed the US and NATO should accept their share of the consequences of the collapse of the Republic in Afghanistan.

In addition to this, Rahmatullah Nabil, the head of national security during the previous government and one of the political figures, also called the difference in the world’s view of Afghanistan as one of the reasons for the persistence of Afghanistan’s problems and crisis.

Mr. Nabil added in his speech: “It is very different about the views. Some consider Afghanistan as a black hole, but others see Afghanistan as an opportunity. However, the path of Afghanistan’s return to its people requires the resolution of these different views.”

In this round of the Herat security meeting, which is being held in exile in the city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan for the second time, some of the participants were present at key roles in the previous Afghan government, and in a way, they are accused of the failure of this government in Afghanistan.

However, Mahmoud Azhrefi, political analyst, believes that holding such a meeting in the current situation and with these figures is not fruitful for bringing positive changes in Afghanistan.

He adds: “Herat security meeting in Dushanbe is one of those meetings that I think will never have results, it is just a project and may have achievements for a few organizers, but for Afghanistan, it will not achieve any results.”

It should be noted that for more than two years, the Islamic Emirate has always called criticisms against the government’s lack of comprehensiveness and human rights as incorrect and emphasized that it will not consider previous political figures in its governance.
