FAIZABAD (SW) – The first “agricultural research” fruit farm has been established in Badakhshan province.
Nusratullah Talha, the general director of the research institute of the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, said in a meeting in Badakhshan that with the establishment of this fruit farm in this province, the necessary facilities will be provided for gardeners in the province. He added that gardeners in this farm are trained by agricultural experts to know how to prevent the trees from getting infected with plant pests.
He emphasized: “It is necessary for us to make a good plan to bring all kinds of fruits here and to research which fruits produce well here. We ask the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture to support us in this sector and accept our requests to carry out useful activities in this field.”
On the other hand, Qutbuddin Dehnavi, the head of agriculture department in Badakhshan, said in this meeting that this agricultural research farm was built on an area of 42 acres of land. He adds: “We consulted with the experts of our agriculture department and we came to the same conclusion to create a research garden to reclaim the things that were lost.”
At the same time, the gardeners in Badakhshan, expressing their satisfaction with the creation of the fruit agricultural research farm, said that after using this farm, they will be able to obtain modified seedlings.
Abdul Samad, a gardener in Badakhshan, told Salam Watandar: “It is really a very happy news that today a research farm has been established in the agricultural garden of Badakhshan because we did not have a specific place in the past. Now this research farm has been created so that we can find medicine for our trees and use it in our trees so that diseases can be prevented and we can have very good results from our gardens.”
Hakimullah, another gardener in Badakhshan, also said: “We are very happy that this research farm was created for the sake of fruits and we have many needs in terms of agriculture, for example, our trees do not produce good results. In the agricultural sector, we do not have access to fertilizers and other materials to get good results from our gardens.”
These gardeners added that in the past years, due to the lack of horticulture facilities and the lack of agricultural research farms, the spread of diseases and plant pests among the gardens caused a decrease in fruit yields.
