KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has offered to hold talks with Tajikistan about their cross-border security concerns.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, in response to the statements of the President of Tajikistan, regarding the transformation of the northern provinces of Afghanistan into a breeding ground for international terrorists, called it baseless. He said Afghanistan wants a dialogue with Tajikistan to resolve this concern.

Mujahid told Salam Watandar: “The presidents of the countries should not stir up such an issue. We want to talk with them and we assure them that the strategy of the Emirate is the same so that no country will be harmed.”

Zabihullah Mujahid said that the issue of forming a comprehensive government and securing women’s rights is an internal issue of Afghanistan and the countries of the region and the world should not interfere in it.

The participants of the second meeting of the leaders of Central Asia and European Union countries, which was held on Friday in Kyrgyzstan, emphasized on the formation of an inclusive government, ensuring women’s rights and fighting terrorism in Afghanistan.

Emom Ali Rakhmon, the President of Tajikistan, said in this meeting that Afghanistan, especially its northern provinces, has become a breeding ground for international terrorists. He added: “In the current situation of Afghanistan, it is important to take joint measures to fight the threat of spreading terrorism, extremism, cyber crimes, drug and weapons trafficking.”

Last week, Tajikistan built two checkpoints on the border of this country due to its increasing concerns about the activities of terrorist groups in Afghanistan.
