HERAT CITY (SW) – Dozens of shops got severely damaged by an early morning blaze on Saturday.
Javed Mayar, the head of urban governance at the Herat Municipality, said that fire brigades were present in the area to control the fire. He said that the fire was contained, But it was likely to flare up again.
Abdul Wadud Faizzada, the head of the Chamber of Craftsmen of Herat, sid that in this fire, nearly 200 shops in the “Qasr-e-Herat Commercial Market” caught fire.
Faizzadeh added that all the goods that the shopkeepers had brought for the Eid sale in this shopping center were burnt.
A number of shopkeepers in this commercial center say that the fire may have occurred due to a power line spark.
