Visiting Islamic scholars optimistic about resumption of girls education

KABUL (SW) – A number of Islamic scholars from some European countries have expressed the hopes for the resumption of women’s education in Afghanistan.

They expressed this hope at the end of their four-day meeting and discussion with the authorities of the Islamic Emirate regarding the right of women to education. They addressed a public  gathering was organised in cooperation of “The Afghan” media in Kabul.

Three Islamic scholars from Germany, Norway and Denmark, who have met with a number of officials of the Islamic Emirate, civil society and Afghan religious scholars in Kandahar and Kabul, said that the purpose of the dialogue is to resume women’s education and change the current situation.

These religious scholars said that in these meetings, the authorities of the Islamic Emirate have assured efforts to resume women’s education. Navid Baig, a religious scholar from Denmark, said that their main purpose in coming to Afghanistan was to try to reopen schools and universities for Afghan girls.

This religious scholar added: “When we saw the tears of our sisters because of the closure of their school and university, we decided to do something for them because women play an important role in raising children, society and country. We had an honest conversation about the future of Afghanistan with the Islamic Emirate.”

Mr. Baig emphasized that for positive changes to come in Afghanistan, all different ethnic groups in this country should talk and understand each other.

On the other hand, Mohammad Johari, a religious scholar from Germany, after the end of his four-day trip to Afghanistan, said that positive changes will come soon and these changes will not be imposed by force, they must be through understanding.

He aadded “During the four days we were there, we sat and talked with scholars, people and influential people. Our main purpose in coming to Afghanistan is education and the desire to return girls to education, and this was a good trip. We understood that change does not happen by oppression in Afghanistan. It is through understanding. Government officials assured us that the current flow is influenced by cultures.”

This religious scholar assured that this is not the end of their cooperation and efforts and efforts will continue for the girls to return to school.

Mohammad Azim Abu Saad, a scholar and religious leader from Norway, after the end of his trip and meetings with the officials of the Islamic Emirate and religious leaders in Afghanistan, said that they are confident that women’s education will be resumed soon.

He aadded “We sat down with the officials of the Islamic Emirate and talked about education. We know that schools will be opened and should be opened, and the Islamic Emirate is cooperating, and the next time we come, the girls will go to school, God willing. This takes time, but the time is sooner and not later.”

Religious scholars from Germany, Norway and Denmark, after their four-day meetings with various groups in Afghanistan, announced in a resolution that the authorities have agreed on the right to education for women and assured that the efforts to resume it soon will have a positive result.
