SHEBERGHAN (SW) – More than 100 women are working at a papad manufacturing factory in Jawzjan.
Fatema, a lady who is taking care of her six orphaned children, works from morning to evening in this papad factory to provide for her children’s daily living expenses and education. She wants the officials of the Islamic Emirate to support business women in the creation of manufacturing factories and entrepreneurship.
Basira, another woman who works in this factory to provide a livelihood for her children, said that she earns 130 afghanis a day. She added that the number of women who are responsible for taking care of their families should be given the opportunity to work in factories.
Gulbadin, the owner of the factory in Sheberghan city, the center of Jawzjan, says that he left the management of this factory to his wife and daughter-in-law in order to support orphaned and destitute women and make them feel comfortable. According to him, now more than 100 women work in this factory and they are trying to provide more job opportunities to women.
Meanwhile, Niaz Mohammad Towab, the director for industry and trade in Jowzjan, says that 20 business women have officially received work permits from this department, which work to empower women and provide them with entrepreneurship opportunities.
He added that with the passage of time, the presence of women and girls in manufacturing factories and sewing workshops will increase and they plan to launch strengthening programs to support women.
It should be mentioned that according to the conducted surveys and the information of the Directorate of Industry and Trade of Jawzjan, 3500 women and girls are currently working in manufacturing factories and sewing workshops in this province.
