Two killed in border skirmish between Afghan, Iranian border guards

NIMROZ (SW) – Local sources in Nimroz have confirmed the end oof clashes between the Afghan and Iranian border guards.

According to the sources, in these clashes, one border guard of each side got killed and a number of others, including civilians, were wounded.

A source, who did not want to be named in the report, told Salam Watandar that the conflict started before dawn and lasted for several hours. Both sides have used light and heavy weapons in this conflict.

According to the source, in this conflict, three women and four children were wounded in Nimroz.

The source said that the exact number of wounded border guards is not yet clear.

The local authorities in Nimroz also confirmed the casualties and said that the conflict ended this evening after a discussion between the elders of both sides.

Habibullah Elham, head of Nimroz culture and information department, quoted Abdul Nafi Takour, the spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, as saying that first the border forces of Iran opened fire and then faced a counter-reaction.

Besides confirming the death of an Islamic Emirate force, he added that a number of forces from both sides were also wounded.

Some residents of Zaranj city, the center of Nimroz and across the border, left their homes due to the conflict and returned to their homes after it ended.
