KABUL (SW) – Local officials in Nangarhar say that the Torkham crossing point with Pakistan has been closed to all traffic until further notice.

Commissioner of Torkham, Muhammad Sadiq Khalid, has said that this crossing point was closed for passengers and transit on Sunday night and talks are ongoing with the Pakistani side in this connection.

According to him, the Pakistani side has not fulfilled its promises regarding the operations here and hence it was closed as per the instructions of the officials of the Islamic Emirate.

The commissioner of Torkham port has not said anything about the said promises nor has he given any details in this regard.

Mohammad Sadiq Khalid requested people not to visit Torkham until further notice.

This is not the first time that the Torkham crossing point has been closed, which has been closed many times before causing many problems for the passengers on both sides.
