MONITORING (SW) – Officials in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran have announced that the embassy of Afghanistan in Tehran will be handed over to the Islamic Emirate next week.

Iranian officials have said that there will be no change in the legal status of the embassy.

Nasser Kanani, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, has said in response to the journalists’ question that handing over the Afghan embassy in Tehran to the Islamic Emirate does not mean changing the legal status of this embassy.

“There has been no change in the positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on how to interact with the caretaker government of Afghanistan.”

Meanwhile, Weis Naseri, an expert on international relations, told Salam Watandar that handing over the Afghan embassy in Tehran to the Islamic Emirate does not bring any change.

“In China, Russia and Pakistan, the Islamic Emirate took charge of the Afghan embassies, but what is the benefit for the Islamic Emirate when in the past one year, no country in the region and the world, including China, Russia, India, Pakistan and Iran, have recognized their government in Afghanistan”, he said.

Another analyst, Mahmoud Aztarabi said that handing over the Afghan embassy to the Islamic Emirate by Iran is an attempt to provide the basis for the recognition of the Islamic Emirate.

“America’s rivals such as China, Russia, and Iran are gradually advancing their own positions to create the multi-polarization of politics in the world. From my point of view, they have come to the conclusion that China, Russia and Iran are slowly preparing the ground for the recognition of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan.”
