KABUL (SW) – Officials of private universities and higher education institutions’ association say that after the closing of the universities for girls, the officials of 35 private universities have decided to suspend their activities in the country and send their assets abroad.
Muhammad Karim Nasiri, the press officer of the said association, told Salam Watandar: “Based on the latest decision of the Ministry of Higher Education, which suspended the higher education of girls, the officials of 35 private universities have decided to close their activities and transfer their capital.”
At the same time, a number of officials of private universities say that after the Islamic Emirate’s ban on girls’ education, many private universities have faced financial losses.
With this, the officials of the Ministry of Higher Education say that they are addressing the problems of private universities. Ziaullah Hashemi, the spokesperson of the said ministry, told Salam Watandar that he has held special meetings with the officials of private universities in each province and will try to solve the problems.
“We have conveyed the problems that they have face to the university liaison committee. We will take the matter to the cabinet of minister and address the problems.”
Officials of the Association of Private Universities and Higher Education Institutions add that there are 140 private universities and institutions of higher education operating in the whole country, in which about 200,000 students are studying in different departments.
According to them, the institution of higher education for girls called Mora, Radhi, Ibn Seena and Bayazid Roshan are among the 35 private universities whose officials have decided to suspend their activities after the ban on girls’ education.
