KABUL (SW) – The UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan has said media in the country is peril.
The UNAMA stated this in a series of tweets on the occasion of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
Human rights abuses of more than 200 reporters in Afghanistan recorded by UNAMA since August 2021, it said, adding that a record high numbers include arbitrary arrest, ill-treatment, threats and intimidation.
“On the International Day to #EndImpunity for Crimes Against Journalists, let us honour media workers & stand up for truth, justice & human rights for all”, it said.
