Islamic Emirate to enlist 400 new military cadets

KABUL (SW) – The Islamic Emirate authorities have announced to enlist up to 4000 new cadets at in the military academy.

Enayatullah Khwarazmi, the spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, in an interview with Salam Watandar, said that they have informed all the provinces through the respective army corps so that this number of students can be recruited for military studies.

According to the spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, so far, a number of school students have also passed the military school entrance exam. “Military school has shown readiness and is ready to attract 400 candidates. We have informed all the provinces and army corps, and some of the students have been tested, and the one who succeeds will be recruited”.

However, a number of students’ families express their concern and say that the Islamic Emirate should not recruit their children. They added that a number of school teachers have told students to join military school in case of failure and discouragement.

Farzana, a member of the family of one of the students, told Salam Watandar: “I am a widow, my one child is in the 10th grade of the school, their teacher came to them and said that we will recruit you, if you want to enroll for the army. He came to their manager again and said that I will register them, their manager said to go and ask the children if they like it or not. I told my child that it can’t be like that, you are not in class 11 yet. Again, my child said that they recruit from classes 10 and 11”.

Samim, a member of another student’s family, said: “A teacher came to Habibiya school and told the students that if you fail and the school is problematic, I will take you somewhere, will teach you there. ”

Mahbub (pseudonym), one of the students of Habibiya School in Kabul, told Salam Watandar that one of their teachers encouraged the students of this school to go to the military school and told them that if they join the military school, all their expenses are provided by this school.

Meanwhile, Hikmatullah Alfat Afghan, the teaching director of Habibiya School, told Salam Watandar that the Ministry of Defense has not forced any students to join the military school. According to him, the process of enlisting in military school is voluntary and not forced. He added that there is no evidence that the students of this school were forcibly recruited.

On the other hand, Kabir Haqmal, one of the country’s education experts, considers the lack of professional and literate people in the military sector of the Islamic Emirate as the purpose of attracting school students to the military school. According to Haqmal, more than 90% of the soldiers of the Islamic Emirate are illiterate and the Islamic Emirate is trying to strengthen the military sector by recruiting educated people.

It should be noted that after the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, this is the first time that the military school is recruiting students.
