KUNAR (SW) – A rather unusual spell of snowfall has claimed the lives of at least 12 children in Khost province, confirmed officials on Thursday.
The Bakhtar state news agency reported that heavy snowfall in Kunar killed 12 children.
Bakhtar quoted local officials in Kunar as saying that 12 children had been killed and hundreds of cattle had been killed in heavy snowfall in the Diogol Valley in the Woki district of the province.
Bakhtar added that medical and relief teams have been sent from the center of Kunar province to the affected areas.
In the last few days, a number of provinces have witnessed heavy rain, snow and cold weather.
Earlier, sources in Badakhshan also reported the loss of livestock due to the cold.
