HERAT CITY (SW) – At least two people are confirmed killed and six more injured following exchange of fire between the Islamic Emirate forces and the local nomads in Herat province, said officials.
Local officials in Herat say clashes broke out between Islamic Emirate forces and local nomads in the province a day earlier.
Mahmoud Shah Rasouli, spokesman for the Herat Police Command, told Salam Watandar that two members of the Islamic Emirate had been wounded in the clash. According to him, two nomads were killed and four others were injured in the clashes.
The spokesman for the Herat Police Command added that the clash took place when a number of nomads from other provinces came to Herat’s Karkh district and left 10,000 of their livestock in pastures and fields.
According to him, following this action, the forces of the Islamic Emirate warned the livestock owners several times, but they did not pay attention.
Officials added that a delegation from the Herat Police Command and Intelligence Department met with a delegation from Karkh district yesterday to talk to livestock owners who were confronted with gunmen.
According to officials, the nomads first wounded two members of the Islamic Emirate forces, and in return, the Islamic Emirate forces killed two nomads and wounded four others.
It is not yet clear from which province these nomads came to Karkh district. A delegation from the Herat Police Command is said to have gone to Karkh for further investigation.
