opposition calls the reconciliation commission as a deception ploy

KABUL (SW) – Over months of its establishment, the opposition figures have dubbed the reconciliation commission by the Islamic Emirate as a deception ploy.

At least a week ago, the Commission, chaired by Shahabuddin Delawar, acting head of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, began its work, but its creation has been criticized by the ‘Supreme Council of National Resistance to Save Afghanistan’.

Ehsan Niroo, spokesman for Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, one of the SCNRSA founders, told Salam Watandar that the Commission had not had direct contact with them so far. He does not consider this Commission to be able to talk to all political figures about the challenges in the country and the system.

“Creating such a commission does not work, Afghanistan’s problems can not be solved with a commission of this level. We want to discuss government inclusiveness, women’s rights, freedom of expression and what the system of government is about, and this commission is too small to discuss such issues. And it is not at the level of negotiating big issues.”

On the other hand, Tariq Farhadi, an expert on political issues, does not consider the nature of this commission to affect political compromise in the country and considers that the purpose of its establishment is to take allegiance to the Islamic Emirate.

“The commission is not the nature of inviting. The caretaker government is unwilling to accept those in Afghanistan who are politically motivated to oppose themselves. The ruling government demands the allegiance of everyone.”

However, Ahmadullah Wasiq, a spokesman for the Commission, told Salam Watandar that as a result of their actions, a number of politicians and soldiers of the former government had announced their readiness to return to the country.

“The commission has talked to high-ranking officials of the former government at the level of governors and deputies, as well as in the military sector at the level of commanders and generals, and a number of them have announced their readiness to return to the country”.
