Doctors in Khost go on strike

KHOST CITY (SW) – Doctors and health workers at Khost Provincial Hospital and a number of other health centers in the province have gone on strike.

They say the reason for the strike is the non-payment of their salaries for several months.

Some of these doctors told Salam Wtandar that the Khost Public Health Department and officials from partner institutions had promised to pay them for their previous months, but that they had not received their salaries for the past few months, in addition to the previous months.

Fazl Karim Mendozi, Khost’s director of public health, told Salam Watandar that the department had also faced the problem of non-payment of health workers’ salaries. He states that the partner institutions have assured that this problem will be completely solved in ten days.

The head of Khost Public Health adds that doctors have promised him that they will end their protest and return to their duties.

In a number of other provinces, doctors have already protested due to financial problems and demanded payment of their salaries.
