Muttaqi holds telephonic conversation with Iranian counterpart

KABUL (SW) – Amir Khan Muttaqi, foreign minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has held a telephonic conversation with his Iranian counterpart Hussein Amir Abdullahian.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate issued a statement saying that the head of the ministry, Amir Khan Muttaqi, had a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian.

The statement said that the talks focused on the problems of Afghan refugees in Iran, recent developments, strengthening bilateral relations, security of diplomaticmissions, trade, economic relations and some other important issues.

Amir Khan Muttaqi said that in the coming days a delegation from the Islamic Emirate will travel to Iran to address the problems of Afghan refugees and prisoners in Iran.

The two sides stressed that “some biased circles are trying to create hatred between the citizens of Afghanistan and Iran and to pave the way for violence.”

According to the statement, to avoid these problems, the two sides have pledged not to allow anyone to create pessimism and distance between the two friendly and neighboring countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister welcomed order of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate to ban the cultivation and sale of narcotics and promised to cooperate with farmers to provide alternative cultivation.
