KABUL (SW) – Amir Khan Mutaqqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate has called on countries in the region to support his government in Afghanistan.
At the third meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries in China, Muttaqi said the Islamic Emirate government was committed to addressing all concerns and working to make its political structure more cohesive. He said that some countries in the region are concerned, but the Islamic State group (ISIS) has largely been dismantled. “Unfortunately, this group is being propagated from abroad,” he said.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate, wrote on Twitter, quoting Amir Khan Muttaqi: “Now is the time to support the new government of Afghanistan. Strengthening the new government is going to benefit all, and its weakness will be to the detriment of all.”
Amir Khan Muttaqi said that Afghanistan’s assets were frozen and its political and economic rights had been usurped, but that the Islamic Emirate was still trying to address all political, economic and social problems prudently.
Participants in the third meeting of Afghanistan’s foreign ministers in China stressed their commitment to the new Afghan government.
Meanwhile, Bilal Karimi, the deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, told Salam Watandar that he was hopeful about the outcome of the third meeting of Afghanistan’s foreign ministers in China. He added that such meetings could further strengthen relations between Afghanistan and the world.
“In every meeting where there is a lot of talk about cooperation and issues related to Afghanistan, we hope that diplomatic avenues will be opened,” Karimi said. “Progress is being made in the economic and other sectors, and the path to an economy-oriented approach is being paved.”
In addition to the Islamic Emirate delegation’s visit to China, the Troika Plus meeting also discussed economic and humanitarian challenges, positive developments and opportunities in Afghanistan.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said China, Russia, the United States and some other countries have pledged to work together to promote economic growth and stability in Afghanistan.
Another meeting is scheduled for today in Geneva, Switzerland, to seek humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
