MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW) – Abdul Rauf, the child kidnapped from Balkh, has been released from the clutches of the kidnapers after nearly two years, said officials on Saturday.
He was handed over to his family today in a gathering in Mazar-e-Sharif by the officials of the Islamic Emirate.
The officials of the Islamic Emirate have not yet provided information about how he escaped from the clutches of the kidnappers.
Abdul Rauf was abducted nearly two years back while on the way to school. The kidnappers demanded $ 1 million from his family in exchange for his release.
During this time, several videos of Abdul Rauf’s torture by abductors were sent to his family.
The previous government carried out several operations to free him from the clutches of the kidnappers, but none of them were successful.
