GHOR (SW) – A number of passengers stranded on the Ghor – Kabul highway had been stranded in the Bekak Pass area since Thursday morning due to heavy snow and storms.
The passengers told Salam Watandar that the number of stranded people reaches 80 and includes women, children and patients. These stranded passengers warned that a humanitarian catastrophe will occur if no serious action is taken to rescue them.
Qasim Ahmadi and Abdul Aziz, two of the passengers, told Salam Watandar that they had spoken to officials several times who promised to cooperate, but no help has been extended.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Hamas, the director information, has said that the drivers moved from Kabul to Ghor without consulting with the department of public works department hence got stuck in the Bekak Pass area. He added that teams have been sent to the scene and are working to clear the route and rescue stranded passengers.
Bekak Pass is located on the Ghor – Kabul highway on the border with Bamyan province.
