MONITORING (SW) – Former president Ashraf Ghani said on Monday his Facebook account has been hacked after his verified page had posted a statement urging the international community to recognize the Taliban rule in Afghanistan.
“Urgent…The official Facebook page of Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has been hacked. Until it is recovered, the content posted on the Facebook page since yesterday is no longer valid”, tweeted the former president.
This followed a brief statement on his Facebook page a day earlier that called upon the international community to approve and support the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
“… This is a bitter fact that we and our former cabinet do not have a percentage of control in Afghanistan but still some countries are encouraging former ambassadors and representatives in the world to create a new crisis in the country and to international gatherings”, the statement posted on Ghani’s Facebook page said while referring to the Afghanistan’s Ambassador at the UN and other diplomats and blaming them for striving for personal interests.
The post particularly targeted Afghanistan’s Ambassador to the UN Ghulam M. Isaczai who was scheduled to speak on behalf of the country at the UN General Assembly.
“The international should understand that if Afghanistan is to have prosperity and peace, then extend towards it a hand of friendship”, said the post on Ghani’s hacked Facebook account.
The former president fled Kabul on August 15th after the Taliban unexpectedly entered the city. He has since taken refuge in the UAE.
