Citizens say growing crimes remain unchecked

KABUL (SW) – Multiple incidents of various crimes remained unchecked in the capital Kabul and elsewhere in the past couple of weeks, locals said.

In recent weeks, following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, Kabul and a number of other provinces have witnessed criminal incidents and attacks on civilians.

A number of civilians were killed and several others were injured in these incidents.

Relatives of the victims say the perpetrators have not yet been identified and no action has been taken to follow up.

In conversation with Salam Watandar, they added that although they have referred to the officials of the Taliban to investigate, but to no avail.

Abdul Khaliq, who lost his wife last week in a shootout during a clash in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of ​​Kabul’s 18th district, said his complaint has not yet been addressed.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Nabi, the father of Abdul Rauf, a boy who has been abducted by unknown individuals in Balkh for about a year and is still missing, said he had gone to the Taliban officials in the province to find his son, but they too could not get a clue from him.

On the other hand, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman and deputy minister of information and culture of the Taliban, announced in a press conference on Tuesday that efforts are being made to prevent such incidents and stressed that security agencies are working to ensure the safety of citizens.
