SHEBERGHAN (SW) – Beginning to curb free press, the Taliban have tightened their control over media in Jawzjan province with new regulation regime.

The Taliban official for the Jawzjan Department of Information and Culture has directed a number of media representatives that they should bring their daily programs to the department for review before publication or broadcast.

Hilal Balkhi, who was recently appointed by the Taliban as the acting director of the Jawzjan Department of Information and Culture, said he has chalked  review plan in this regard.

He categorically said that no media outlet could report without prior coordination with the Taliban.

According to him, the media should regulate their activities by observing these points and refrain from airing music programs and songs.

This has led to a number of media executives compelled to act in accordance with the Taliban directives and preparing programs to send to the Department for approval before broadcasting.
