Abdullah calls for peace and order in Kabul

KABUL (SW) – Abdullah Abdullah has called for peace and order in Kabul a week since the Taliban take over.

The head of the High Council of National Reconciliation together with the former president Hamid Karzai met the Taliban governor for Kabul, Abdul Rahman Mansour, in the city.

“We discussed the security of the citizens of Kabul, & reiterated that protecting the life, property & dignity of the citizens of the capital should be prioritize, tweeted Abdullah, who has been leading talks with the Taliban on behalf of the now defunct Afghan government by exiled president Ashraf Ghani.

“We added that in order to return to normality in the capital Kabul, it is imperative that citizens of the capital feel safe & secure. Mr Mansour assured us that he would do everything possible for the security of the people of Kabul”, he tweeted.

This comes as much of the city including banks, forex market and offices remained close across Afghanistan.

Separately, Abdullah also met with local elders from Panjshir at his residence on Saturday.

“We met with the elders, religious scholars, representatives & commanders of Panjshir Province in my residence in Kabul. We discussed the current developments in the country, & ways of supporting peace & stability”, he tweeted.
