Taliban spy networks in Kandahar behind abductions, killings

KANDAHAR (SW) – The armed Taliban insurgents have networks of spies in areas they have occupied that helped them abduct and kill civilians in Kandahar province.

Well-placed sources told Salam Watandar that the Taliban have killed a number of people, even in areas under their control in the city of Kandahar, for alleged links to the government.

Other source said that yesterday he saw a number of Pakistani soldiers who crossed over in Kandahar. According to the sources, locals are deeply concerned about Pakistan’s direct intervention, but no one could raise their voices.

According to the source, late Gen. Raziq Abdul Raziq had fought bravely against the Pakistani military in the area and forced them to retreat, but now the Pakistani military has returned after his assassination in a Taliban attack a couple of years back.

Meanwhile, a number of Spin Boldak residents have said that people who have a history of enmity have now taken advantage of the situation to settle score.

A few days ago, Fada Mohammad Afghan, a member of the Kandahar Provincial Council, told the media that the Taliban had taken his two children out of their homes and killed them.

In addition, one of Kandahar’s comedians, known as “Khashe Javan”, was pulled out of his house in Dand district of the province a few days ago and then killed.

A number of human rights organizations have also lamented reports of hundreds of people being evicted from their homes by the Taliban and then killed.

However, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied these reports.
