KABUL (SW) – Political commentators believe weak planning and poor management by the government has led to the advances of the armed Taliban insurgents across the country.
This comes as in the last few days, there have been reports of an increase in Taliban attacks on a number of provincial capitals. Herat, Helmand, Kandahar, Takhar and Parwan are among the provinces that have witnessed Taliban advances recently.
“Currently, there is no war management and no will on the part of the Afghan government to contain the crisis,” said Baqir Mohseni, an analysts. He charged that those in the government vowing to defend the democracy are faced with a number of allegations.

Another analyst, Ali Amiri told Salam Watandar that the government’s ‘ineffective and intermittent’ plans are destroying existing capacities, and that if the government takes the necessary reforms instead of unnecessary appointments, there will be an opportunity for peace.
The Taliban, however, claim their advances are due to the government forces attacking their positions outside cities. “The enemy itself causes attacks that force us to pursue the enemy in the cities, capture or destroy their caves because we have our own security belts near the cities, they (security forces) are constantly trying to infringe on our forces and push back our the belts, which will mean the Mujahedin (Tlaiban) would advance and defeat the enemy.”
Meanwhile, Defense Ministry spokesman Ruhollah Ahmadzai emphasized that security forces were continuing to fight and thwart the Taliban’s plans, and said that security forces were conducting operations to prevent attacks by the group.
The violence has escalated since the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan.
