KANDAHAR (SW) – The Taliban have abducted at least 300 people in southern Kandahar province on charges of collaborating with the government, local officials said on Friday.
According to a well-placed source, after the Taliban took control of Spin Boldak district, at least 300 people were evicted from their homes, some of whom were killed and others are still missing.
Fida Mohammad Afghan, a member of the Kandahar Provincial Council, was among those whose two sons, Shah Mahmood and Mohammad Khan, were evicted from their homes a few days ago and whose bullet-riddled bodies were later found.
He said the Taliban had launched a ‘massacre’ in the Spin Boldak district and that young men were still being evicted from their homes every night.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, denied it. In a voice message to Salam Watandar, he said Fida Mohammad Afghan’s matter was a ‘personal feud’. He said the Taliban was investigating to bring the killers to justice.
In addition to Spin Boldak, in Dand, Panjwai, Kandahar City and a number of other districts recently captured by the Taliban, some people are claiming that some residents are being evicted at night and their bodies are being found later.
Such incidents have left Kandaharis deeply concerned who are urging the international community and humanitarian watchdogs to pay serious attention to the issue.
