Junbish party supporters shut down Faryab governor’s office

 

MAIMANA (SW) – Dozens of Junbish-e-Islami supporters on Saturday closed down the provincial administration’s compound in Faryab against the appointment of the new governor.

A member of the Junbish party told Salam Watandar the party opposed the appointment of the new governor Mohammad Dawood and stand by Marshal Abdul Rasheed Dostum’s call for appointment of the governor by the people.

The protesters demanded the new governor should be a person with knowledge of the area and ability to ensure peace and order here.

A well-place source told Salam Watandar the helicopter carrying the new governor returned to Mazar-e-Sharif.

Dawood has been appointed by the Independent Directorate of Lcoal Governance to replace former Faryab governor Naqibullah Fayeq who was later nominated by the president as senator.
