KABUL (SW) – Analysts believe despite pulling out troops from Afghanistan, the US would continue to support the country through diplomatic and humanitarian means.
US President Joe Biden has announced that he will withdraw his troops from Afghanistan by September this year. Biden stressed that he would continue to support Afghanistan even after the withdrawal of its troops.
Political analyst Bismillah Ranjbar said the United States now controls all parts of Afghanistan by air and land therefore, there is no need for physical military presence. He said the United States would never turn its back on Afghanistan to achieve its goals against Russia and China in the region.
Ranjbar added that by ending its military presence in Afghanistan, the United States wants to build public opinion domestically and put an end to the Taliban’s pretext of withdrawal of troops for peace talks.
Meanwhile, some analysts say the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan will change the structure of peace talks.
Political analyst Tariq Farhadi said the Taliban’s main condition for participating in the peace talks was the withdrawal of all US troops from Afghanistan, and that Biden’s latest decision would meet that demand.
According to him, the Taliban must now make its demands clear and unless the Afghan government and the Taliban really want peace and make sacrifices for it, the ongoing war in the country will continue.
According to analysts, politicians and people with power need to talk to each other to find a way to lasting peace in Afghanistan.
