Analysts believe Taliban prone to internal rift

KABUL (SW) – Analysts believe internal rift would emerge among the Taliban leaders once a political deal is reached with the government for power-sharing.

Political analyst Bismillah Ranjbar told Salam Watandar the Taliban may be at odds among each other over the peace process. He said there was many chances of it because the factions within the Taliban will start trying to get more shares and important seats.

Meanwhile, Tariq Farhadi, another political analyst, believed that the NDS is trying about creating divisions within the Taliban in order to cover up divisions within the government and confuse the public. He said the Taliban had not yet reached peace and had not acted separately on the battlefield, but if peace talks were concluded, there might be deep divisions within the group as well.

This comes as the NDS chief Ahmad Zia Siraj told a press conference on Saturday that the Taliban leaders are faced with internal differences. He said the so-called Peshawar Shura of the Taliban led by Sirajuddin Haqqani was trying to undermine the Queeta Shura of the group.
