LASHKARGAH (SW) – A landmine blast in Helmand province claimed the lives of at least five civilians, said officials on Friday.
Spokesman for the Helmand governor, Umer Zwak said a passenger car hit a roadside landmine on the main Kandahar – Helmand highway before noon that resulted in killing of five people onboard.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
Separately, seven women got hurt when an identical incident when a passenger bus hit landmine in the Kashk-e-Kohna district of western Herat province. According to the provincial administration, three among the injured were in critical state. Herat officials also blamed the Taliban for mining the roads.
