KAPISA/ GARDEZ (SW) – A prosecutor has been gunned down in Paktia province in a terrorist attack.
According to Paktia governor Mohammad Haleem Fidaey, the incident took place late on Thursday night in the provincial capital Gardez. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the killing.
Separately, according to local officials in Kapisa, a detective from the Criminal Investigation Department of the provincial police headquarters has been assassinated.
Shaikh Shorash, a spokesman for the Kapisa police chief, told Salam Watandar that the officer was killed by Taliban militants riding a motorcycle near his home this afternoon.
According to him, the incident took place in Sayed Khan Qala area of the first security district of Mahmood Raqi city.
Meanwhile, a number of security sources told Salam Watandar that the attackers were Taliban members who were later killed by locals after the incident and their bodies were hanged from a tree.
The Taliban have not yet commented.
