Taliban abduct bus full with passengers in Herat

HERAT CITY (SW) – The Taliban insurgents have abducted a bus full with passengers from the main highway linking Herat city with Tor Ghunday dry port.

According to Atiqullah Waseeq, head of media cell at the Herat Police command, the incident took place at around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. He said this public bus was carrying passengers from Tor Ghunday town to Herat city, capital of Herat province. He added it is not yet clear where the Taliban took the bus with its occupants.

Waseeq added that it was still unclear whether government employees were in the bus or not. The head of the media office further said that security forces are trying to rescue the passengers of the bus.

Abdul Nasser Mohammadi, head of the Tor Ghunday dry port, told Salam Watandar that the Taliban had taken the bus from the Gunj area of the province.

The Taliban has not yet commented.
