Taliban kill 8 security forces in Nimroz, Baghlan

KABUL (SW) – At least eight security forces got killed in the Taliban attacks in Nimroz and Baghlan provinces, officials said on Friday.

Sources in Baghlan and Nimroz provinces said eight security personnel were killed and seven others wounded in the Taliban attacks. A source in Nimroz, who did not want to be named, told Salam Watandar that the Taliban attacked a checkpoint in the Halili area of ​​Chakhansur district last night, killing two policemen and wounding two others. The Taliban also confiscated all equipment from the checkpoint, said the source.

Local officials in Nimroz have not commented on the incident.

Meanwhile, sources in Baghlan told Salam Watandar that three soldiers were killed and four others were wounded in Taliban attacks in Pul-e-Khumri and central Baghlan districts. A number of security personnel in the central Baghlan district said that since the main Kunduz-Pul-i-Khumri highway is under Taliban control, no reinforcements have arrived in the area compelling them to transport the wounded to the district center on donkeys.

The health condition of the injured is said to be critical.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the attacks.

Separately, security sources in Baghlan told Salam Watandar a local police commander in Pul-i-Khumri has joined the Taliban with two of his bodyguards.
