KABUL (SW) – The Kabul University on Wednesday resumed classes after Monday’s brazen terrorist attack claimed by the so-called Islamic State.
According to a notification by the KU administration, students can return to attend classes to avoid delays in their studies. It said in a statement that the decision to reopen the university was made under the leadership of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani that was also attended by the Ministry of Higher Education and security officials.
The dormitories for boys and girls have been reopened and the students asked to return.
Just before noon on Monday, at least three assailants entered the university and attacked students. According to official figures, 22 people were killed and about 40 were injured in the attack.
Marina Ahmadyar, a Salam Watandar reporter said that the university atmosphere was cold and silent on the first day, and the security officials were more vigilant than normal.
On Tuesday, a number of students and civil activists condemned the attack and staged a protest in front of the university. The protesters demanded a thorough investigation and prosecution of the perpetrators.
