IED blast claims ten lives in Maidan Wardak

MAIDAN CITY (SW) – Local officials in Maidan Wardak province say five civilians were killed and 14 others were injured when two passenger vehicles faced a landmine blast in the Jalriz district of the province.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Khalili, Jalriz district governor, told Salam Watandar that the incident took place on Tuesday morning in the Kote Ashro area of ​​the district. According to him, five children and four women were also injured in the incident. According to him, the victims of this incident are residents of “Vers” district of Bamyan.

But, Sharifullah Hotak, a member of the Maidan Wardak provincial council, said that according to his information, ten people were killed and eight others were injured in the incident. According to local officials, the injured were taken to a government hospital in Maidan city, the capital of Maidan Wardak province.

Local officials in Maidan Wardak blamed the Taliban for the incident. However, the group is yet to comment on it.

Bordering Kabul, the Maidan Wardak province is considered as an insecure province with the Taliban fighters are active in parts of the province
