KANDAHAR/ HERAT (SW) – Multiple landmine blasts killed at least ten civilians in Kandahar, Helmand and Herat provinces, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Local officials in Helmand said six people were killed and 10 others were injured when a passenger car struck a roadside mine in the province.
Omar Zwak, a spokesman for the governor of Helmand, told Salam Watandar that the car collided with a roadside mine in the Bazaar Mohajer area of Greshk district in the morning. According to him, women and children were also killed in the blast.
The spokesman for the governor of Helmand said the mine had been planted by the Taliban.
The Taliban have not yet commented.
Meanwhile, local officials in Kandahar province reported that six civilians were injured in a roadside bomb blast in Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar province.
Jamal Nasser Barakzai, a spokesman for the Kandahar Police Command, said that a car carrying civilians collided with a roadside mine late Friday in the Azargai area of Shah Wali Kot district in Kandahar. He said two injured are in critical condition.
Kandahar security officials also blamed the Taliban for the blast.
The Taliban have not yet commented.
In western Herat province, three people were killed when a roadside bomb exploded in the province.
Jilani Farhad, spokesman for the governor of Herat, told Salam Watandar that 11 other people had been injured in the blast. According to him, the incident took place on Friday night, when a passenger bus collided with a roadside mine on the Herat-Kandahar highway, at the intersection of Zawl district in the province.
He added that women and children were also injured in the incident.
Ali Ahmad Faqiryar, the district governor of Adraskan district in Herat, said 13 people had been injured in the blast. According to him, the health condition of five of the injured in this incident is reported to be serious.
Security officials in Helmand, Kandahar and Herat provinces say all victims of the blasts were civilians.
