SAR-E-PUL (SW) – The work of gravelling and smoothing has started at the “Nari Band” pass, which was called the road of death due to accidents, in Sar-e-Pul province.
Nari Band is one of the most difficult and disastrous roads on the way to Kohistanat and al-Badar districts, which, according to the residents, has caused many accidents and no attention has been paid to this road in the past 20 years.
A number of residents of Sarpol demand serious attention from the government of the Islamic Emirate in order to create jobs and implement development and infrastructure projects in this province.
Nematullah, a resident of Sar-e-Pul, welcomes the beginning of gravelling and leveling of “Nari Band” pass, but he says that the government and aid institutions must solve the work of this road in a fundamental way. According to him, in the past 20 years, no significant attention has been paid to the construction of this road, and road damage has always created a disaster.
He adds: “This road has always faced people with problems. People have died and pregnant women have given birth in this place while on the way to hospital. Many times, the agricultural products have been spoiled due to the damage of the road and caused huge financial losses to the farmers.”
Najibullah, another resident of Sar-e-Pul, says that gynecological and cardiac patients have died during transport from this route due to the damage of the road, and now that the Islamic Emirate has undertaken the task of rebuilding it, it is heartening.
According to him, with the reconstruction and smoothing of this road, along with preventing traffic incidents, patients will also be transferred to hospitals and health centers on time.
Najibullah adds: “It has been a long time since we have problems on this road and it is a difficult road. There are six oil wells on this road, we want Afchin company to build this road fundamentally.”
The local officials of Sar-e-Pul say that in this project, they have used the facilities of the government offices and the provincial authority in a temporary manner, but in the future, they are trying to solve the work of this road in a fundamental way.
Mohammad Yaqub Abdul Rahman, governor of Sar-e-Pul, confirming the challenges in the “Nari Band” pass, informed about continuous efforts to build this road that connects two districts and an oil fields with the center of this province. According to him, the Islamic Emirate addresses the challenges of the people over time and ends the worries of the people.
He adds: “People’s problems are mostly on this road. This time, we came to repair this road in a fundamental way. We are trying, we promised the people that we will build this road in a fundamental way. God willing, I will go to Kabul and meet with the minister and bring an extraordinary order so that the road will be built in a fundamental way.”
A number of religious scholars and ethnic elders say that until the work of this road is finished in a fundamental way, the challenges of the people will not be solved and the Islamic Emirate should pay serious attention to this matter.
