SAR-E-POL (SW) – Officials at Sar-e-Pol Urban Development and Housing Department say that the practical work of building “Teachers’ Town” has started in this province.

According to the officials, this settlement will be built on an area of 150 acres of land in the center of the province.

Mohammad Noor Noorani, head of the Urban Development and Housing, told Salam Watandar that “Teachers’ Town” will be built in a standard way and with all facilities. According to him, with the construction of this settlement, a number of teachers in the province will get a standard homes. He added that 301 residential houses, standard roads, health centers, playgrounds, mosques and some other places will be built in “Teachers’ Town”.

Mohammad Noorani said: “The streets of this town are 22 meters, 15 meters, and 12 meters, and it has schools, mosques, clinics, police fields, kindergartens, and green fields among other public areas.”

At the same time, a number of teachers and residents emphasize on the speed of the construction of this settlement and say that it belongs to teachers who have served in the education sector for more than 10 years.

Mohammad Ishaq, a teacher, said: “This helps a lot because the teacher can make ends meet with the money they would save on rent. It is very beneficial that they become owners of shelter and land.”

Safiullah, a resident, said: “In addition to the fact that respected teachers get housing and a place, they can directly and indirectly get jobs alongside these hundreds of people and benefit from this.”

On the other hand, a number of teachers, welcoming the start of this settlement, say that currently 50% of teachers in this province live in rented houses. The teachers do not consider this settlement to be enough for thousands of teachers in this province and they want the Islamic Emirate to allocate more land to the teachers who are the needy section of the society.

It should be mentioned that the land of “Teachers’ Town” was delineated and distributed during the previous government, but with the political developments two years ago, its construction work was stopped.
