KABUL (SW) – Officials in the Ministry of National Defense say that the first convoy of high-speed military vehicles was sent to the 207 a-Farooq Corps in Herat on Sunday for the purpose of quick patrolling, protecting the borders and dealing with the problems of border residents.

Inayatullah Khwarazmi, the spokesman of the Ministry of National Defense, told Salam Watandar that these high-speed vehicles were sent to this province only because of the need of the army corps, brigades or other military units. He added: “The Ministry of National Defense has a very large organization. A team of the vehicles has been distributed in Herat as per their needs.”

At the same time, a number of experts on military issues, emphasizing the protection of the country’s borders, say that the Islamic Emirate should strengthen the borders and deploy professional forces in order to prevent the smuggling of people, weapons and other things and end the worries of neighboring countries.

Sarwar Niazi, an expert on military issues, told Salam Watandar that by controlling the borders, the government can remove the excuses that drugs are being smuggled or terrorists are crossing from Afghanistan.

Likewise, Yusuf Amin Zazi, another expert on military issues, said that border protection is one of the responsibilities of the Ministry of National Defense, which should be prioritized. He emphasized: “To protect our borders, we should have air forces, radar and infantry units so that we can protect our borders.”

On the other hand, Tahir Aghbar, another expert on military issues, said that border protection is the duty of the government. According to him, even though all countries have countless possibilities to protect their borders, but this action is still not enough and there should be more forces.
