KABUL (SW) – Production of cement at the state-run Jabal al-Sarraj factory has doubled, said an official.
Mohammad Saber Hamza, the head of the Jabal al-Sarraj cement factory, told Salam Watandar that the production capacity of this factory has increased from 20 tons per day to 70 tons. According to him, nearly 165 technical and regular employees are working in this factory in two shifts.
The head of the Jabal al-Sarraj cement factory wants the central government and the National Development Company to increase the production capacity of this factory to 3,500 tons per day because the required technical force and raw materials are easily available.
Hamza also added that all the machines in this factory are worn out and need to be replaced with new machines.
On the other hand, 26-year-old Sayed Amir Sadat, a resident of Charikar city, central Parwan, who suffers from poverty and unemployment, expressing his satisfaction with the increase in the production of the Jabal al-Saraj cement factory, said that the authorities should also increase the number of workers in this factory.
Abdulwali Hajir, a professor at the faculty of economics at Parwan University, said that if the government works to activate manufacturing plants in Parwan and other provinces, it will prevent the flight of young people and the brain drain, and it will bring good economic results for Afghanistan. He added: “As much as the employment rate increases, the amount of migration and Afghanistan’s dependence on foreign countries will decrease.”
It should be mentioned that Afghanistan imports an important part of construction materials from outside.
