MAZAR-E-SHARIF (SW) – Farmers in Balkh say that planting different crops on an agricultural land leads to the strengthening of the land and good yield can be obtained from it.
They believe that farmers can get a good yield from different products at the same time and strengthen their economy.
Farmer Jamaluddin Salam of Balkh’s “Solgra” district told Salam Watandar he can plant several types of crops at the same time and can different types yields. “When we plant wheat once, after reaping the wheat, we can plant another crop, such as saffron or peaches or other things, because this kind of planting also prepares the land and next year when the wheat is harvested, the crops are yielding well.”
Another resident of Solgra district, Amir Hamza, said: “The advantage of this plantation is that we can get two or three crops from the land in a year. We can plant tomatoes on the same land in one year and wheat, corn and barley in the next year.”
Officials of the department of agriculture, irrigation and livestock of Balkh, while encouraging farmers to use this type of cultivation, say that a number of farmers in Balkh are currently using this type of cultivation.
