KABUL (SW) – Aid has started to arrive for the thousands of earthquake affected families in the Paktika and Khost provinces.
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said that Pakistan, Iran and Qatar had sent aid shipments of aid to the quake victims in Paktika province.
Mujahid wrote on Twitter that eight trucks carrying food and other necessities had arrived from Pakistan to Paktika province by land.
According to him, two helicopters carrying Iranian humanitarian aid have also been sent to Afghanistan.
The spokesman for the Islamic Emirate added that a plane carrying Qatari humanitarian aid also arrived in Kabul last night.
Earlier, officials from a number of other countries announced their readiness to provide assistance to the survivors of the quake and earthquake victims in Khost and Paktika provinces.
Following the quake, a number of international organizations announced that they were working to reach out to the victims of the natural disaster.
Last night’s earthquake in the southern and eastern provinces of the country left hundreds dead and injured and caused huge financial losses to the residents. According to the latest figures from local officials, 1,000 people have been killed and 1,500 injured in two districts of Paktika province alone. Officials say the numbers are rising.
