KABUL (SW) – Legendary Afghan singer Master Gul Zaman has passed away at the age of 82.
The famous singer and composer breathed his last after prolonged illness, confirmed his friends and relatives.
Ustad Gul Zaman was one of Afghanistan’s most famous musicians, with hundreds of songs and poems to his credit in Pashto language.
He began his career in the 1960s by performing at the state-run Radio Television Afghanistan.
In 1982, he was awarded the award of the best composer in Afghanistan. He was also named as ‘Baba’ (Father) of Music by the Ministry of Information and Culture.
According to reports, Ustad Gul Zaman has more than 500 audio and video songs to his credit in the archives of the Radio Television Afghanistan.
